Visual Art-based After School Program
Welcome to our after-school program! We offer visual art-based classes including watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, drawing and so much more. It's is the perfect place for aspiring artists to hone current skills while learning new ones. We all know art is important for young minds, but why? Studying visual art benefits students by building self-esteem and confidence plus it strengthens achievement in academic subjects, critical thinking, and problem-solving. In addition, it increases cultural awareness as well as social and communication skills. Our program is specifically designed to encourage and aid students to be creative problem solvers, taking an idea from conception to completion. Our beautiful studio setting and artist-led team are here to support your child. Sign up today, choose the best schedule for your child below.

Drop In for Art After School Program
Not sure the best day to register your child? Join us for a drop in time! Get a feel for our space, meet our staff and above all enjoy an afternoon of creating. Drop in registration available here.
Program Highlights
Our after school program is open to school aged children. Pick your own schedule! Based on your availability and personal needs, we offer customizable schedules. Program hours are from 2pm- 5 pm with flexible drop off time. We usually start projects around 3:30 or 4 and go to 5 pm. Pick up time is 5:00 - 5:15 PM. Snacks are provided!

Curriculum
Through a combination of art history, encouraging self-expression, and the exploration of artistic techniques (including drawing, painting, collage, mixed-media, and more), children gain a unique educational experience. Our instructors encourage imagination, creative expression, and joy. All children receive guidance from our skilled art instructors, who have experience bringing art to young children in a fun, engaging, and joyful way.

Activities
While mastering a subject certainly builds a student’s confidence, there is something special about participating in the arts. Using materials that turn into visual stories is magical, and it helps students feel more confident. As they improve and see their own progress, their self-confidence continues to grow. Which is why our after school program offers visual art based lessons, including watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, drawing and so much more! We also offer diverse learning opportunities through Art and Science Experiments as well as Culture and History based art projects.
We offer free art supplies for the first month! Afterwards, you will be required to purchase your child’s supplies. We will provide a supply list that you can take to California Art Supply (or a place of your choosing). We highly encourage students to take care of their own art supplies, it's truly the first step in becoming an independent artist. We will teach your child how to care for their own art supplies and the importance behind it.
Supplies
Art studios are a place where art is born and our space is a platform for just that. With beautiful natural light, tall windows and a spacious patio, students are immediately brought into a place of creation. Located directly behind Golden Moon Gallery in downtown San Mateo, close to Central Park and public transportation. We often take trips to the Japanese Tea Garden and Rose Garden or enjoy afternoons of painting on our patio.
